Natwest/cpp mobile phone insurance claim

hello, im a advantange gold customer and i made a claim yesterday to natwest mobile phone insurance! haven't made a claim about my laptop yet) who turns out to be cpp insurance. my bag got stolen in China it contained my iphone and laptop and other bits and bobs. so i phoned then up, told then the hole of what happend and they rejected my claim to me not calling up my network provider within 24 hours of my phone being stolen... i actually waited until i got home to do so. i used the app find my phone to disable it! and i was over my credit limit on my phone anyway so call couldnt be made! my argument is if i have it would not of been realistic to call my network provider and 0800 or whatever number from Asia! mobile to mobile is £2 per min!iv got a police report and a crime number straight after it happend in cina. i blocked my phone and sim card 4 days after it happened once i got home! any help very much appreciated
