Moved into a new property and taking a reading from the date I moved in until now I've only used 26 units of gas

The readings are
7353.22 where the .22 are in red
7379.50

And being an extra cautious person I'm probably asking for clarification of the obvious but that does mean just 26 units ?

So that's 26 times by the unit price ?

Silly question but I don't seem to be using much at all ?

Yes, you've used 26 meter units-you ignore the part units in red for reading purposes. However it's not 26 times x unit price. Meters only measure volume, either imperial (100's cu ft) or metric (cu m). Your meter will be marked accordingly.
Billing units are kWh (energy values), so you then need to multiply by the relevant formula to convert to kWh. Then multiply by your unit kWh charge, add standing charges, VAT etc.
This site does it very painlessly for you:
    http://www.energylinx.co.uk/gas_meter_conversion.html
So you have used either about 295kWh (metric) or 835 kWh (imperial).

None needed-1 meter unit is 1 kWh.

For quick calculation purposes 1 cu m of gas is about 11kwh.
