Deal Direct with claim or solicitors?

Another car hit me in the back as i slowed down at the begining of this month (April). Finally the third party insuranc co, AXA, took full liability and said they would repair my car. Its been nearly a month, I have been trying to call them and nothing relaly seems to be happening, they even have my name wrong on file.

I'm getting fed up, they appointed a body works company but they cant give me a courtesy car for another month! When i phoned Axa they said person daling with my claim would contact me but hasnt. So what do I do? go to not win no fee kind of company and go via them for everything, deal direct, or get my insurance Co to appoint a legal team?

Do everything through your insurance company, that's what you pay them for. It will ensure that they (should) have all correspondence on hand for any future reference if something did go wrong with AXA paying up.

This is what the legal expenses option on car insurance is for. You notify your solicitor of your out of pocket expenses and get them to claim them back, along with your excess. Unfortunately, you have to pay for these things yourself first and claim them back after.

If you didnt take the legal expenses option then you have to do it all yourself or employ a solicitor to do it (which you pay for).

I dont know why you are waiting for AXA to say your car should be repaired. That should have been sorted through your insurance company, not the other party. However, judging by More Than's response, it appears that you have chosen not to involve them which is why they have closed the file.

Well more than wants me to pay an excess of £450 first. They said they will then recover this but I will have to wait. I’m a student hence I wanted to get it done via Axa as they don’t charge me anything. Axa aren’t responsive at all, my insurance, More than, said they will now book talk to a garage and sort it but problem is my mum who also drives it can only drive automatics which usually puts a delay on courtesy car. :(
