IVAs & PPI Claims

Please, please, do't ever, ever use those claims company when you're on IVA!!! It's so easy to do it yourself, all you need to do is to download the PPI questionnaire in the Financial ombudsman website and send it to your creditors. That's what I did and they responded to me with their offer!
Is that now the case with your HSBC PPI refund?
I understand from your other post that they were not playing ball.
Maybe a case where a PPI reclaim firm might be able to help.0 -
What is the difference if I did it & not the claims company, if HSBC will still give the same reply? With regards to your question, it was NATWEST who gave me an offer to think that they are included in my creditors & the greedy HSBS is not!!! And they have the nerve to refuse a refund!!! Unbelievable!0

Just my opinion: Google 'iva hsbc' and read other people's experiences. Sadly HSBC are rotten to the core to IVAers.
So, I guess it all depends how much of a fight you want, and how much time you are willing to invest.
Who says HSBC will give a PPI claim Co. the same fob-off as they did to you? I would have thought that the reclaim companies are more likely to know all the legal arguements etc. to force HSBC's hand - much more so than us mere mortals.
My Sister had multiple PPI claims. Most she got back directly. 2 loan companies tried wriggling out of it. So she used a company who took their 20%, and she got the rest - better than nothing.
Same principle applied to my Wife claiming PPI on a long-forgotten account: She does not have all the details, so had no joy claiming directly. Over to the PPI firm. If they can claim where my Wife cannot, she doesn't mind paying the commission.
This is the problem with 'learning' from the internet. Doing these things for free only works 'if' the banks etc. play fair.0 -
Thank you, I was afraid that if I use them, then HSBC will refund the PPI but not directly to me instead to my IVA, then I end up with the bills.0

You might well be right - hence why if it were me, I would let my IVA company do it all (certainly if I could not do it for free myself).
Best of luck in sorting this one out.0
