Hi,

I've got an old Dell Inspiron 1525 which has been getting slower and slower since I bought it in 2008.

I've worked my way through the "How to speed up a slow pc" thread but want to know if there's anything further I can do or whether I should splash out and buy some more memory:

reboot, press F8, advanced, factory restore

10 minutes later it will be back to like new

you have sufficient ram

I had one of those (still have as a spare laptop).

It was slowish even with a clean install of Vista. It now has ubuntu Linux on it and runs very much faster. May be worth trying if you do not 100% need to run Windows.

Upgraded mine to Windows 7. Was much easier than expected.
