3 months into my support group ESA, random payment?

I am 3 months out of 6 into my support group part of ESA. on 23rd december i recieved the booklet you usually get towards the end of the 13 week period, you fill in and send away telling them how you feel etc and they decide whether you need to go for a medical or not..
i have just sent it off today as it has to get to them by thr 16th January.
My last payment arrived on the friday before christmas and i am not due another payment until this upcoming wednesday(9th)
i have checked my bank today and ESA have given me a payment of £119 odd and i am totally confused? i usually recieve around £239 every 2 weeks but checked today and have this random payment?
i know i should ring on monday but does anyone at all have any idea why i have recieved it?

If you mean the ESA50 form, then this can be sent at any time after 3 months into a claim, to reassess you.
It seems likely that they have sent you a partial payment, up to the date of decision, and then any new payment would continue from then.
On rereading, it seems there should not yet be any reason to do this, as your form is not due.
There have been random screwups over christmas, it's possibly a fallout from this.
As you say - phoning may enlighten you. Good luck.0 -
Apparently there has been a glitch with DWP computers which has resulted in some ESA claimants receiving an odd one week payment over the christmas period. This will be rectified by paying only one week when the next fortnightly payment is due.
So I would keep that money aside and sit tight until your next payment drops in.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
Thank you to the both of you for the replies
yeah im not going to touch it im just going to leave it until wednesday and see what arrives in my bank on that date, probably another £119 odd... in september i was told id be going in the support group part of ESA for 6 months, but they have sent me an ESA50 form i think as you say. i already filled one in and sent it away last year before my 13 weeks period ws up but now they have sent me another which is due before 16 th January but i have sent that out today.0
