I am suffering a ferocious head cold, and am wondering how to best disinfect the keyboard and mouse. My OH occaisionally uses the computer, but is in as bad a state as me!
When the colds eventually clear up, I don't want to re-infect us from the kit!
Is it as simple as a wipe over with a Dettol swab, or is there another way to disinfect?_pale_

Some Dettol anti-bacterial wipes, maybe?
Depends how thorough you want to be, whether you wipe over the tops of the keys, or if you remove all the keys one-by-one and wipe them all over.
Don't really see why the computer deserves special treatment, unless you're disinfecting the whole house - door handles, window handles, TV remote, sofa, radio, etc0 -
I was suffering from this when we went to hot-desking at work. You can get anti viral wipes intended to clean keyboards - I picked some up in Tescos. These seem to have worked well for me as I have avoided some of the colds going round.0

If it's a separate keyboard hold it upside down and tap the back to get rid of the cruft first. How not to do it.
If you have a vacuum cleaner with a nozzle smaller than the keycaps and you can turn down the suction, then you can vacuum the keyboard.
I use SWMBO's face cleaning wipes on the keyboard and mouse

Cyberclean - you can also get it in bigger Asda stores. Does the trick and gets into all the little gaps you can't get at with a cotton bud or cloth0 -
However it said it would have taken him hours to clean it manually, but it took him a week in the dishwasher... :question:0

Well the dishwasher does have a distinct lack of effort attached and did get the keyboard very clean.
TBH, if all you need is a bog standard keyboard, they're cheap enough to buy a new one..

I use gin and a lint free cloth, also works on screens, specs, cds, glass. Use just a little and omit the tonic, ice and lemon.0
