After some Job Advice

Hi all not sure if this right place to ask but I am after some advice. I am 24 I work as a printer at the moment but the money is not that great and I have had enough of working here.

So I am thinking about going to collage or uni to learn something But I am not sure what to learn as I don't want spend like 3 years of my life then find the skill I have learned it not needed.

So I want some advice on a good job to learn, What payees pretty well and where if I wanted to can go to any country in the world and do the same job.

Any advice would be nice thanks.

What do you like/dislike about your current job? That would be a good starting point.

I'd possibly reccomend a trade like plumbing/electrician as they're always going to be needed, cost a fortune and generally there is a waiting list to book them - so you will end up with a job that pays pretty well, job security and plenty of work (once trained and have experience)

I was under the impression that it was hard to get into the trades on apprenticeships after you were about 19 or 20.

Well I dislike

The money is not good.
I have to run the place when the boss ain't here what I don't get paid for and is a lot stress.
It's not challenging enough.
I find it boring every day is the same I wake up and don't want be here.
There's no atmosphered no one to have laugh with and no one to speak to as I am the only young person here.
I get treated badly.
It's small company so no benefits.
I Basically stuck in limbo I cant get promoted.
Ive been here 3 years not had pay rise and basically know everything there is to know.
I don't get a lot of holiday and no sick pay.

There a few reason I can think of at the top my head.

Thing I like about my job

Close to my house.
Some the people are really nice.

This was outlawed by age discrimination legislation with effect from October 2006.

you'll find the money aint as good and not as much demand. Also harder to set up and work on your own/do your own jobs.

yeah kinder but running the place is easy not really challenge but why should I deal with customers and problem when i don't get paid for it.

Printing not good pay? Are you a press operator or do you just help out (loading the paper, trimming etc)? Ive just finished a BTEC in printing and the guys on my course have all gone into well paid jobs. One has become a press operator after 12 months of being the skivvy and is on 16k plus already, this will continue to grow. Its an industry with not enough workers and so pays well. Well thats what Ive found anyway...

Ignoring that, and if you really want to move jobs then think about what kind of things you enjoy and see if you can get a career out of that. Is there anything youve done that you really enjoyed?
