Difference between ESA Contribution? / ESA income related ?

Hello all, just confused between the differences between both types?
esa contribution based, and esa income based.
I know the difference, but I mean which one would one person be eligible for, (they are currently on income support).
is one to replace income support, and one to replace incapacity benefit?

If they are receiving IS due to incapacity the they will be transferred to income based ESA.0

so if on IS due to illness, they will be transferred to income based ESA.0
