We had 80 recognisable Boots sets at the school summer fair- almost £1000 of tat (sorry unwanted generic gift set).
It is very easy to buy in the sales for the sake of it. I take a list of people I need to buy for with me, so each gift is allocated to the persons taste.
I also don't buy much in the Boots sale.
Some Linx sets for the boys and a Mango set for my dd. Yes she gets one every year, but she loves them.
Nice leather gloves are nice leather gloves no matter when you buy them.:D0 -

Well, I wouldn't buy
gift sets, I would get other thingsBlackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0 -

I think children's party gifts are the worst items for being regifted endlessly! I am sure that the same ones cycle forever in some party circles- when mine were young there was a jigsaw I saw at least 3 times!

I bought ds 2 Joop gift sets in the sale.(Birthday and Christmas) They were £14 down from £28. Joop use the same packaging every year, as do Addidas, Linx and most mens gift sets0 -
Another saddo here - I'd done some of this years birthdays before Christmas and half the rest by the 27th of January! Now I'm onto next Christmas - I look at this way, we have a limited amount to spend on present so our family and friends can either get really good presents I've bought in the sales or rubbish presents I've bought full price in November/December because that's all we can afford!!! The only presents I leave til the last minute are the some of the kids presents where I don't know what they will be into or what will be developmentally appropriate too far in advance.
GQ - I am so with you on the whole feet up in December bit but I may indulge in the odd festive sherry rather than the cuppa!
Proud to be sad! - SW
ETA - I don't really do gift sets unless it's maybe one the kitchen/gadget type ones that I know is perfect for a particular person. I hit the Book People Boxing Day sale hard as most of the people Iknow are book people and will love what I've got (arrived today) if I can bear to part with them. Got my mum a book of Natural History Museum art for her birthday which is majorly in danger (she doesn't come on here so not giving the game away).0 -

Well, ok, I'll put my hand up, I am one of those sad specimens! Admittedly I don't flock there on the first day but I do like a browse in Boots, and maybe Debenhams and BHS, to see what I can pick up in their half price sale to use as gifts for birthdays and Christmas presents in the coming year. Does this make me a sad specimen or just very MSE?
(And dare I even admit to awaiting the 75% off sale in Boots to buy even more gifts to stash away!!) :rotfl:
I don't think you are a sad specimen. I think you are a very sensible and wise personI bought some of this years gifts in the TKMaxx sale after Xmas last year....a DKNY scarf which cost me £4 and was marked as original price £97 and a pair of gorgeous cashmere mittens for £3 (originally £30) Both the recipients were made up with them, although I confess I was a tiny bit embarassed at the low cost of both of them!!! (only a tiny bit you understand :rotfl:)
Lets remember the DM ran a story a couple of days back where some woman said that to keep her son in private school she was (shock horror) shopping in Ald! and L!dl. The SHAME :rotfl: stupid mare!

But you presumably know your son uses joop? But a cousin or uncle or grandad may hate it. Smelly stuff is so personal but often bought as gifts. Both my teenagers got Boots sets from an aunt (this years). Dd can't use anything as severe skin problems and son won't use ted baker (or whatever it was ) because at 16 the smell matters.
And no I am not regifting them! They will go to the local homeless shelter as we send toiletries when they appeal ever year (1 month is toiletry month, I baked bean monthnetc etc)June challenge £100 a day £3161.63 plus £350 vouchers plus £108.37 food/shopping saving
