Here goes - I am trying to access my ITunes account on laptop. Laptop is not working - screen went wrong during 2012 and I had previously been able to access files on it by plugging it into an external monitor and it worked perfectly fine. However, it no longer works even when plugged into external monitor. So my question is how do I get my ITunes account transferred onto new laptop? As I understand it if I try and update my Ipod when I add new music from cd collection all my old music will be deleted?
The music on my Ipod is from cd's not downloads. Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Yes. I cant understand why its now not working - the Windows XP comes on screen and then it kind of goes to sleep (hope this makes sense!). Maybe my only option is to get hard drive removed from it? My brother usually does all this techie stuff for me so have no idea if its a big/expensive job! unfortunately he is abroad now.0

So you're getting something on the monitor, albeit briefly?
At what point during startup does the screen go blank?
Is there an LED on the monitor to show it's on? does this change colour or go off when the screen blanks?
Are there any LEDs alight on the laptop after the screen blanks? If so, please say which ones and what they are doing (blinking/flashing/static on etc)
Can you hear the hard drive spinning?

Screen on external monitor goes blank when windows xp screen comes up, LED on monitor changes from green to orange after this and then comes up with 'No signal'
Power light on laptop is green and solid. Can hear hard drive spinning. Another light is solid and green above power indicator (not sure what that ones for)
Acer 1640z - nothing on laptop screen completely blank
