DLA - motability vehicle in 2013 (for 3 years) but when a PIP starts then what ??

My aunt is on dla, higher mobility.

If this component is switched over to a motability vehicle (a scooter), then she can have that for 3 years, between 2013 - 2016.

But if say in 2014, they send her the pack to apply for PIP, which is going to be for everyone on dla, then what would happen with the motability vehicle?

she will continue on the mobility scheme?

on the PIP application, if she meets the criteria for higher rate mobilty- will that be ignored, as she already has given up her mobility component for a mobility vehicle, which she is halfway through?

Providing your aunt continues to meet the criteria for DLA HRM she will continue with no disruption as if nothing had changed. Your aunt will be transferred to the enhanced rate of the mobility component of PIP at some point after [and maybe a long time after] April 2013.

Any individual who fails to continue meet the criteria for the enhanced rate of the mobility component of PIP, will not be eligible for the Motability Scheme, and the leasing agreement will be ended. Motability will then arrange with the supplying garage to collect the vehicle. Any AP made at the time of purchase will be refunded on a pro-rata basis.

NOTE : It is the case that you may be in a position to buy the vehicle from Motability .. .. ask it may be more than worth your while.

You mean buying it - brand new ? or the second hand mobility ones ?

    - I mean, if you aunt failed to meet the criteria, and the leasing agreement was abruptly ended
    - she can ask Motability for a 'buy' price for the vehicle in [her possession] question
