Contents insurance & engagement ring

My fiancé and I are having a bit of a problem insuring her engagement ring. I wonder if anyone out there can provide any help.
She lives with a flatmate, to whom she is unrelated, and in a flat that is privately rented. This means that her contents in the flat (also due for renewal) require to be insured separately from the building itself, which is insured by the landlord. Every insurance company that we’ve phoned that provides contents only insurance has a limit of £1000 for any single item (the ring’s value is greater than this), or any item that is to be insured all risks, as an engagement ring would require. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar problem, or if anyone could point me in the direction of an insurance company that will insure it for us, preferably at a reasonable price. I think the problem perhaps lies in the fact that she lives with a flatmate who is unrelated to her – I know many people live with their partner while they’re engaged these days, but this surely cannot be a problem that is unique to us, and there must be a company out there that’ll provide insurance. Even Confused etc can’t help find us a company that’ll do it online. Can anyone help?

The £1000 sounds like the limit that is applied to unspecified single items - usually with contents insurance you can manually specify additional items of greater value on top of this. I've just taken out contents insurance with esure including my fiancee's engagement ring which is greater than £1000, I just had to manually add it as an additional item. Did it all online, and it went through no problem. I did actually take out buildings insurance too but I didn't have to. Prior to that, it was on her parents' insurance as an additional item in the same way.0
