Buildings Insurance for Rented Property

reverie

Sorry, not sure if I should be posting this here or in Insurance or Cashback. Anyway, thought other people renting out would be good place to start so any advice greatfully received.
It's the first time I've needed to renew buildings insurance whilst a property is rented. The insurance is currently with Barclays and when I let the house they said fine, no additional charge, it's allowed in our policy.
Now I come to renew and want to cancel Barclays policy and shop around, Barlcays for example won't let me do it online as a new policy quote (£125 with Quidco!) because it says the house must not be rented?
Also looked at Lloyds (£120 with Quidco) and it says that I must phone them for quote, not online as it's rented.
Where's the best place to search for this insurance? Do I have to accept that there will be no Quidco bonus?
Also, sorry, bet this is obvious, but do I need contents cover? I appreciate that I don't have to cover contents as in tenants possessions, but for fitted kitchen/carpets etc.
Thanks very much.

I use alanboswells.com, they include basic landlord contents like carpets in their buildings policy.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I tend to use the above and/or https://www.hamiltonfraser.co.uk
I have prostituted myself between the two for the last 7 years as they will always try to undercut each other (for 'new' business') when it's time for your annual renewal, but this year they were within £4 of each other for my renewal so I stayed with Alan Boswell. The only thing to do with good advice is to pass it on. It is never of any use to oneself. (Oscar Wilde);)0
