look at a bank statement.
it will list the different payments.
DWPDLA
GWPESA
DWPCA
and so on.
if you are unsure still, you can check the amounts on the DWP site.
you should be able to work out exactly which benefits you are getting.0 -

Maybe I am wording it wrong, I'm not very good with wording things the way I mean them.
The confusion has come in because we were under the impression he was being paid the carers allowance, which seems not to be the case, maybe carers element as mentioned, and as such being a carer I do not have time to be a full time student I could up my hours at uni to achieve a full time status but I should be receiving carers allowance and have no idea how to claim that, I thought the part on the forms that say are you a carer and that said about carers allowance was how they did it, I have never been told I needed to do anything else otherwise. Sometimes people are not automatically aware of what they are entitled to or how to claim, if you don't know you are doing it wrong you don't know it needs to be changed.
So what do you do for money? Does he give you money every fortnight when the money is paid?

As has been explained you need to find out what level of DLA your husband is receiving and then make a claim for Carers Allowance if that's applicable, this will be your claim and the money paid to you."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -
Please do check this because you would have had to fill in the forms and sign them in order to claim CA. It will make your situation more secure if you are claiming it because you won't be expected to work as well.0

OP
to claim Carers Allowance you need to complete a separate form from your husbands ESA form
it asks for YOUR NI number
your income
whether you work and if you do what your earning are
and YOU need to sign it - if you have not done this then you are definitely NOT claiming Carers Allowance0 -
I don't understand what the issue is with going for the work- focused interview? If you're studying part time to better your prospects for when little one goes to school full time then the interview might be helpful?MANAGED TO CLEAR A 3K OVERDRAFT IN ONE FRUGAL, SUPER CHARGED MONEY EARNING MONTH!:j

OP you are getting confused with the carers allowance benefit, if hubby is receiving the middle/high rate care componant of DLA and you care for him for 35 hours pw or more then it's YOU that has to make a claim for carers allowance of just over £58pw.
If you ring this number 0845 608 4321 and ask for an application form they will send you one, you will have to go into detail about the things you do for hubby, washing and bathing him, helping him dress and go to the toilet amongst other things, and you will have to send his DLA award letter off with the application form as proof he is receiving the correct award for you to get the allowance.
It will take a few weeks but if you are awarded the benefit it will be backdated to when you applied, you will then get it paid into the bank and the award letter will be in your name which you can show as proof should you need to.
Without claimimg the actual carers allowance benefit it won't be accepted by the DWP that you are your husbands carer as its just your say so and anyone can say they are a carer even if they aren't but if you are awarded the allowance they will accept that as proof you are indeed your husbands carer.0
