Holiday Camp this summer

Hi. I am looking to book a summer holiday in UK this year for a week from 3rd August. Its very important to be easy walking distance to the beach. Also we would like half board. We want onsite entertainment and a swimming pool. Have been looking through Haven, Parkdean etc but cant find any that specify they are close to the beach. Can anyone recommend a holiday they have had that fits the bill?

Thanks for reading

Parkdean "Grannies Hielan Hame" in Morayshire is right on the beach. Lots of daylight there too as it's so far north it rarely gets completely dark.
  • Thanks for that. I should have said, we are in the Midlands and would like to keep travel time under 3 and a half hours or so.

Ruda park (Devon) on Parkdean exactly fits your bill, all the accommodation is not far to the beach which is vast expanse of great grade sand. It has caravans (some new ones) but I have stayed in one of the wood lodges (Rosemoor) which are very comfy, a lot more 'exclusive' and are literally the other side of the dunes from the beach. Has onsite entertainment but not tried it (my kids were too young for too late a night), shops, good indoor pool with giant whirlpool sessions - it used to be (and probably still is) cheaper to prepay for a certain number of swimming tickets when booking the holiday if you were sure you would use it. you can also add on the booking breakfast or half board deals, not done it myself but I believe it comes a sort of daily allowance from the menus with options to 'upgrade' for a better 'treat' meal when you fancy it (such as a steak). Of this type of park holiday, its probably one of the best, if the weather is decent then whole lot nicer.

See on this google map link, the caravans are the rows near the top, the buildings at the bottom are the lodges, beach is bottom left.
  • Thanks very much! I am looking into that now! x

Presthaven sands haven is right on the beach, you drive right past the dunes as you drive onto the park. hafan y mor, haven also has easy access to a beach but it is quite rocky. It's not really a sun bathing beach but my kids loved paddling in the water and fishing in the rock pools.

Oops sorry just seen, don't think either have half board. We looked at ruda for may half term and was nearly £850.

Just to add we have a motorome and went to Ruda and had a great long weekend, we were so lucky with the weather.
The beach was fantastic and the kids had bodyboards and wetsuits, loved it.
They went in the indoor pool and said it was good.

We didnt really do the evening entertainment but ate the the nice bar area one night and the food was really good.

10 min walk into the village with a pub etc.

We would def go back again because of the position of this place.

I cant say anything about the accomodation as we had out van.

Butlins at Skegness is right on the beach and has fantastic entertainment. My two sons (5 and 14) love it there.
