CDC 40 Opera audio system- is it bluetooth capable?

I don't know if anyone can help. I have a 58 plate Vectra with a CDC 40 Opera (with DAB) sound system, which is apparently made by Blaupunkt.
From various forums I have heard that the system is bluetooth capable, and may just need a software update to enable this. So I called Vauxhall, who didn't seen to have a clue. I have tried to find a phone number for Blaupunkt, but can't find one.
Does anyone know any more about it, and if it is just a software update, or if it needs any additional parts.

Definitely no bluetooth chip in CDC40, so no software upgrade is going to help. CDC 40 was introduced by Blaupunkt in 2001 - not many phones had bluetooth back then.
Your best bet would be to connect a Parrot bluetooth kit."Retail is for suckers"

From what I have been told, the opera (DAB) version is the one that is bluetooth capable. I presume that this version came out long after 2001?0

DAB was definitely available on the CDC40 from 2001/2002 as standard, at least in Germany - but there was an option to de-spec the CDC40 to a poverty pack (no DAB) for some regional markets (no DAB antenna, canbus software updated for no antenna, to save €8 per car).
Are there any bluetooth/handset buttons on your unit? How would you operate the bluetooth? And where is the microphone?
The one model up CDC 50 had a phone built in (with a sim card slot), then CDC 70(?) had satnav. No bluetooth.
The only phone-related thing on CDC 40 is the mute line-in connector to connect to an external bluetooth (eg. Parrot)."Retail is for suckers"

DAB is not standard on the CDC 40, it is an optional extra.
There is also an auxillary imput available as an optional extra, which does connect a mobile phone through the CDC 40 system. The first person I spoke to at Vauxhall actually read out the details, saying that the phones contacts are displayed through the dash board display. As for the microphone, there is posssibly one above the rear view mirror, between the motion sensors. Or it may just use the phones own microphone.
Satnavs can also be connected to the auxillary socket.
After speaking to someone else it appears that the phone may also be able to be connected via a bluetooth module that plugs into the back of the stereo system.0 -

Neither does mine. But then it doesn't mention a phone either, but it clearly shows a third tab with a phone pictured in the instruction manual. So I presume that this is activated when a phone is connected, or it needs the software update that I mentioned.
You can see the phone tab on page 21 of this pdf manual. I know it isn't in english, but it is the same in my book: http://ebookbrowse.com/cdc40-opera-pdf-d1247177670 -
Let's go through this again:
- there is no bluetooth hardware in CDC40 so no simple software update is going to work
- you can fit an aftermarket bluetooth kit (eg. Parrot), it connects to the radio speakers and radio mute connector, and you get an external microphone and control/display module. No software changes required.
- you can also fit the standard General Motors bluetooth kit UHP4 made by Delphi. It consists of a bluetooth module box, wiring harness and external microphone. And you need a VX mechanic to enable it with a Tech2 computer. So you need to pay for the module, fitting and programming. No idea which buttons control it though.
I would advise to find an independent fitter (VX forum?) to save £££, and also buy the module from ebay for less than half price. I guess VX garage would charge £400 plus?"Retail is for suckers"

This is more or less what I have also managed to find out.
I would rather have the UHP4 module, as it is built in. But at the cheapest on ebay being £85, I think I will just buy the auxillary socket at £12 for now.0
