BMW X3 Turbo
Options
Hi Guys
I have a 2006 BMW X3 2.0D Sport which had a new turbo fitted September 2010 28,000 miles on the clock by BMW it has gone again and we returned it to the same BMW main dealer garage and they want another £2,800 to renew the turbo the mileage is now 39,000
Am I mad or is this not acceptable ? Any ideas how I can argue my case ? Or advice ? Or help ?
I not only feel let down by BMW but insulted, I am 50 and my Mrs is 45 so it's not as if we go racing or hill climbing the weekends

Try googling bmw x3 turbo replacement and look at all the threads - one or two have subsequently got help from BMW but unfortunately the failure seems a frequent occurrence0

Did you buy it new or used from BMW?The man without a signature.0

Two questions.
What sort of mileage is the car covering between oil changes?
Do you allow the turbo to warm up after starting, and to cool down before shutdown?
Those questions apart the cost quoted is quite simply ridiculous, if neither the maker or dealer is going to honour some sort of goodwill then i suggest you remove the car from !!!!!! Turpins wallet emptying site and put it into a competent BMW specialists indy.
When you eventually replace the car remember how you were treated.0 -
Is this the one where the swirl flaps break off and jam the turbo.Be happy...;)0

Is this lots of short journeys or does the car not get used much?
As asked above, Oil changes. How often? I do lots of short journeys and change the oil every 4000 - 6000 miles.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Tell them to get onto BMW to give you a replacement free or you'll put them through the small claims court and plaster it all over the newspapers.0

Yeah but they replaced it less than 10k miles ago, you have nothing to loose! If BMW cave in then all is good.
What is it that causes the failures though?0 -
Hi Guys
Am I mad
For buying an x3? Yes you are
Best advice as listed here is to kick up a stink with BMW. How much bad publicity can you manage? Hit forums, social media etc with the *facts* (nothing more & don't be aggressive) then maybe send a nice email to BMW with links to them all.
If they feel like they might loose more business than the cost of replacement, they might cave in?0 -
