Tax Credit Payment Help Needed Please

Without going into a long story I tried to log into my bank account today and could turns out the bank descided to close the account without notice. But after no help from the bank I had to contact Tax credits as my payment is due in Monday. The helpline changed my bank account details to a new account and said that they werent sure how long or if I would recieve the payment soon or if they would spread it over the rest of the claim once it had been returned by the bank.
Has anyone else experienced this and could they tell me what the outcome was for them and any idea of a timescale. As things stand I wont recieve a tax credit payment until the 14th of Jan now and am concerened to say the least.
Thanks

Hi
You might get a one off payment between now and the 14th as that can happen when bank details are updated but your payment for the 7th will already be sent to the now closed bank account. I would phone them on maybe Tuesday or Wednesday next week to see. However, a payment cant be made to a CLOSED account so as long as your account is closed and not just suspended or in overdraft etc then the payment will be sent back to ctc for them to pay it back to you.
Hope that helps a little

It shouldnt take too long for the payment to go back to them, depened son the bank but i think its normally only a couple of working days, then another at least 2 working days to be put back in your new account, you might get the payment on the 14th quicker
