I cannot get any laminate though as it is not deep enough as ikea cupboards are not standard size. Wood is an option however if I don't have to have beading. There was a walnut laminate that I liked in ikea but that was custom made and assumed it would be too expensive - maybe I'll ask them to give me a quote.

if you really want laminate tops
all decent suppliers do 900 x 3000, just cut it down
as its double bullnosed you could if wanted use the other good edge for an uptand.
real wood would look nice though, regardless of up keep and prob work out the same cost as buying 900 wide laminates0 -

I think you have been misinformed. The IKEA Pragel Walnut coloured laminate worktop is off the shelf, not custom made and comes in two lengths - 2.46m and 1.86m. £ 30 each for the shorter length and £ 35 for the longer one. An advantage is that all sides come finished and notwithstanding scribing to the wall, it means an open end doesn't require finishing after installation.
Cheers
Polite cough!! My Pragel Walnut worktop is custom made and is 3.1 metres and came pre-cut to accomodate sink etc. It cost a bit more, can't remember the exact price but it was not prohibitive. I got it this way to avoid a lot of finishing.0 -
We have howdens black sparkle worktops with an Ikea kitchen.

Hi moneypanicker. Currently looking to redo my kitchen, and found this place who are cheaper than Ikea and seem to have good reviews, and also do an upstand to match their worktops:

(This isn't a recommendation as i'm just at the planning stage atm but if you do use them it would be good to know how you get on)0
