Twitter, nasty blogs?

I got a direct message though twitter from Urban Tribe saying that someone is spreading nasty blogs around about me. I daren't click on the link in case it is a virus! I am following UrbanTribe because of a comp I entered but their account may have been compromised. Either that or someone really is spreading nasty blogs about me! :eek:

Has anyone else had a simular message? Just thought I'd warn people in case it's a link to a virus.

I got the same and foolishly did click the link but it took me to a bt not found page...hopefully on my iPad nothing has been compromised x

I'm on twitter and get similar messages occasionally - I think they are spam/viruses so just delete (and maybe inform the sender if they are someone you trust as they might have been hacked).

These are 100% spam.

There are lots of these going around so it's best to just not click anything.

Thanks, I tweeted them and have just seen several other people have tweeted them about it so looks like they were hacked.

I've had a couple of these recently. If you've clicked on the link, you might start sending out messages yourself without realising. I found this article useful on what to do if you're receiving the messages, or told you're sending them:

I got the same thing a while ago, a few times. I think mine was linked to "tiny url". But I'm very confident that they weren't true for me, and so are unlikely to be true for you too. It's probably safest to not click on any links they send, but do a Google search on your name and that should hopefully show that nothing nasty is happening with you

I just had a suspicious tweet that was replying to an RT of mine. There was a t-i-n-y-u-r-l link in the tweet and was malicious and from @Lorrie5u0rw8.

Didn't realise there were malicious tweets going around ... have had dodgy DM's in the past.
Think I should change my password (again) or will I be ok?

This really does sound like what I was getting a long time ago. I don't think you need to do anything. I remember that I was concerned at the time, but nothing bad happened. So I should just delete them and ignore it. HTH

I had a tweet from someone today replying to a competition I'd RT'd. They had nothing to do with the competition- it was still open at that point.

It was one of these tweeters who uses the same name as a couple of hundred people but with the addition of numbers/letters.
I just clicked on their profile and used the block option- no risk to your computer that way.
This person has tried this before and I just ignored the message as it was an obvious risky tweet.

I keep getting spam from people saying I could increase the numbers of followers I have - I report these as spam & they are automatically blocked too
