Eon electricity only problem

Having moved in to my house with storage heaters on the 31st of October I immediately rang eon to set up an account and register my meter readings. Nice lady said she would look into what tariff would be best for me presumably a economy 7 one?!

December comes along not heard anything more. Finally a letter arrives saying that I have been using electricity but not registered an account?

Rang up yesterday to be told I'd never had my account activated and that they would set it up for me now.

Asked what tariff I was best to go on?
Was told to look online!
Great so I've been on the wrong tariff presumably for 2 months without an account properly set up!

Not impressed! Not exactly the customer service I was hoping for. Letter of complaint being sent today.

Do eon do a economy 7 tariff?

If so how do I go about finding it online?

Thanks

    Hi forgetmenotnow

I'm sorry an account wasn't set up when you first contacted us last October.

We can backdate the account to when you first took over responsibility. Depending on the tariff you want, it may also be possible to backdate this to the time you took over.

For an Economy 7 tariff, you need a two rate Economy 7 type meter. As you're all electric and have storage heaters I suspect you may well already have this type of meter.

You can see all the tariffs currently available with us on our website through the link penrhyn posted. You can also switch online if you register with the website.

However, best check out all your options using the link Wywth posted.

Economy 7 is available with all our current tariffs provided you have a conventional meter.

There are, though, a number of meters out there specifically designed for properties with storage heaters. For example, Economy 10, Restricted Hour Tariff (RHT) meters etc.

If you have this type of meter, I'm afraid, an Economy 7 tariff isn't available.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you I can help further as happy to do so. Drop an email to the address in my Profile if you prefer.

  • Hi

Thanks for the responses - yes I had managed to navigate my way to the eon link but as it doesn't mention the actual prices for different times it didn't actually prove that helpful.

Thanks for your response Malc. I actually rang eon back and spoke to them on the phone and was told my only option is to be on the general energyplan tariff which contradicts what you've just said?

I do have the dual meter system to allow the cheap rate electricity to charge my storage heaters up overnight. Will double check the meter type tonight and see whether it is definitely economy 7

    Thanks

Energyplan is available as both a single rate or an E7 tariff.

I think you need to request a quote on the Eon site to get to the unit prices
Alternatively, just use a comparison site.

Eitherway, its not cheap (as it's their name for their standard tariff)

So am I correct in saying you've called E.On again and they still haven't set up an account for you?

    Hi Hannah

If you've a dual meter system with two meters, it looks as though you've a type of Restricted Hour Tariff (RHT) set up.

One of these meters will be recording usage for heating/water heating during cheaper off peak times.

If I'm right, there is only one tariff available. The tariff will probably be called something like EnergyPlan with RHT. Details, I'm afraid, aren't on our website.

However, I'm speculating rather a lot here and could have the wrong end of the stick. I'll wait until you've confirmed the meter details before trying to advise further.
