Weather patterns!
On my annual statement is says the following "We also adjust our estimates to represent normal weather patterns so you don't pay too much if the winter is cold, or too little if it's mild."
Shouldn't that be the other way round in that "you don't pay too much if the winter is mild, or too little if it's cold."
Or have I misunderstood their statement?

I think they probably have it about right - what they are probably meaning is that if last winter was mild, then they uplift your usage from last winter so that when this winter is normal you don't end up paying too little and get a big debt. Conversely if last winter was particularly harsh, if they based the payments on that alone, you'd end up paying too much for a normal winter and building up a big credit balance. There is a measure they use which relates the amount of heat people use to the outside temperature so I suspect they can model that against expected weather patterns to get a normal usage figure.Adventure before Dementia!0

The strange thing is that they've estimated my 2013 usage to be exactly the same as my 2012 usage so am I to understand that they've also assumed exactly the same meteorological conditions will prevail in 2013 as did in 2012!
