Got to the post office yesterday and there was no money in there.
I had a feeling something like this would happen when I received my P45 the other day. I receive very little paperwork ever.
Its a pain because I get asked for letters dated within the past few months or 6 months even and I don't have any.
I get the usual ones in April time and nothing then until the following year.
I got a letter a couple of weeks ago saying IB is changing to ESA and a leaflet that detailed nothing. A form asking about my health issues.
Then the other day my P45. And now no money.
I did phone them and they said it was a computer error. I asked if anything will change they said no, I would just need to do another medical like the last one.
I have not done a medical. I filled the form in asking about my health and that is it.
Hopefully I will get some treatment soon. And I can get back to normal.
How do I find out if I should be claiming for anything? Money is becoming ever tighter. I had a load of CC debts that i think are statute barred. That is how bad it got.
Daughter going to college so need to pay for her travel pass. Its getting costly as she will be too old for a young persons card next term. She had to go back to 6th form to improve her grades so a couple of years behind everyone else.
All we got before was. IB, Income support, Family allowance and Tax credits.
Rented property (HA), Council tax paid.
Need to stop the outgoings overtaking the incomings.
Sorry for the long post, I hope someone reads it.
Thank you.

Was the ESA 50 form sent in in time and did they definately recieve it?Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Yes I sent the form back within days, Just a computer error it seems.
Their attitude annoys me. The money should be in tomorrow afternoon.
If we did not have the tax credits and family allowance we would have had no money.
And these will stop soon as my daughter will be 19. Where do i get advice on benefits? Nobody seems to have the time these days.
I asked the local council office and they say if you want help filling a claim form in there is a wait of approx 3 months.
How do we support our daughter when all we get is ESA? Does that mean income support is no longer around? Just ESA?
I feel so silly not knowing these things.
Thank you.0 -

You shouldn't feel silly for not knowing these things, they are constantly changing...
Income support, incapacity benefit and severe disablement are being phased out (there have been no new claims for these in several years) and as such all people currently receiving these benefits are being reassessed to see if they qualify for the replacement Employment and Support Allowance (ESA).
The form you received (the ESA50 work-capability assessment) is your chance to explain how your health affects you, normally once this form has been sent off you are called to attend a medical assessment - some people do not need to attend if the evidence suggests a 'pass'.
Once the assessment has been completed a decision maker will determine if you qualify for ESA. If you do you will move onto ESA if you do not then you can chose to appeal or claim another benefit e.g jobseekers allowance.
The most important things to note are that the qualifying criteria for ESA are much tougher than IB/IS and that if you qualify for ESA you will be placed into one of 2 groups: the work-related activity group; or the support group.

The reason a P45 was issued for one of two reason
1) they have stopped your Benefits (IB/IS)
2) they have moved you over from IB to ESA
My husband got a P45 a few weeks ago for the second reason as IB was a taxable benefit and they issue P45 at the end of every tax year. It did confuse him when he told me I looked at that and the letter that arrived so I could explain it to him.

From the brief phone call it seems I have been switched to ESA.
My payments are to be unchanged. And they said I will need another medical next year.
But they have not seen me or spoken to me, Except the form I returned some time back.
Until my P45 arrived with no explanation.
So I must presume I am now on ESA and have no idea how that differs. What is all this about support groups?
What support can I get for my daughters college travel etc?
If I did not know people much worse off than me I would say my life sucks. But I know know it could be worse.
Oh well, Thank you for reading this.0 -

That's good that you've been switched to ESA without needing to attend a 'medical'. They are saying that you will be reassessed in a years time, although in reality it could be any time before and after that. This will mean filling in the ESA 50 form again and could mean a 'medical' at that time.
There are two groups in ESA the WRAG (work related activity group) which means that you have to attend meetings at the job-centre to 'assist' you in getting ready to return to work It could also mean that you have to take part in the work programme. If income related it is not time limited. The support group is for those who are deemed unable to even take part in the meetings mentioned above although you can go voluntarily.
The P45 is because you have stopped receiving a taxable benefit.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
