From the Living North newsletter (scroll down):-
Steptoe and Son hit the stage in this hilarious, timeless comedy at Northern Stage. Unwillingly bound together by birth, business and bad luck, join Albert and Harold Steptoe in the scrapyard for what is guaranteed to be an unforgettable evening of comedy. During its production in the 60s and 70s, Steptoe and Son marked itself out as radical compared to most UK sitcoms. This was an age when the predominant sources of laughter in British comedy were farce, slapstick and innuendo but Steptoe and Son brought something completely different to our screens with its working class characters and dry humour. We have two tickets for the show on 12th March and a two course dinner and drinks at Northern Stage’s supremely stylish Mckennas restaurant to win. Simply email your contact details, marked STEPTOE to competitions@livingnorth.com before 11th January for your chance to win.
