Riding two wheels is statistically more dangerous than driving a car, so I'd definitely suggest that you brush up on skills if it has been a while since you were on the scoot. A lot of riding schools will do refresher courses, some even focusing on riding in winter weather.

I loved my scoot (some sheetbag nicked it christmas eve) but I need quite a few fingers to count near misses (even got overtaken on a roundabout a few times) so above all BE CAREFUL.

    .

excellent advice. even a 100cc scoot will beat most things at the traffic light gp.

How far is your journey and on what sort of roads though? I'm assuming not the motorway as you are considerign the scoot.

As said, leave work clothes in the office and get decent kit. While moving scooters tend of offer fairly good protection for your legs, perhaps consider a taller screen if you are getting a bit of wind blast and to help keep the rain off.

I bike 60 miles a day round trip. Average mpg in the car is 30. Average mpg on the bike 50 so a no brainer really. Even went on it in the snow a few weeks ago but it is always a tempting option to take the car when it is wet!
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

Take a wheel off the car and ask the wife to hide it. :)
  • Search for "demotivator" in the MSE search bar, put in the difference in cost of petrol between your car and the scooter, and stick the poster on the car keys or something!
