Herbs will grow really well - basil, rosemary, thyme, coriander, chives. You could do hanging cherry tomatoes, spring onions, dwarf beans. Or just flowers if you're not looking for edible stuff. Which direction does the kitchen window face?"Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

Best bet it to get some long, narrow trays from B&Q etc. to sit the pots in and stop water going all over the place. Then start off with easy to grow herbs in pots like parsley and indestructible plants like spider plant, african violet, christmas cactus and some show-stoppers like Amaryllis bulbs which are being sold off cheap now.0

Hi
other options might include
1. Check out if there are any community gardens or orchard projects near by?
2. Check out if the local counciol or anyone runs a scheme thaty partners older people with gardens they can no longer run and people who want garden space? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Perhaps this idea would be ok for you, self watering planters http://skruben.blogspot.ca/2012/03/how-to-self-watering-seed-starter-pots.html
