Split mp3 file into 2

Got a number of big mp3 files which I'd like to split into shorter files. What's the best way of doing this?

+1 for mp3DirectCut

Its very fast at doing that kind of editing work, since it works directly on the MP3 files itself, whereas Audacity takes a long time to export the file section out again, since it works on it as audio then exports as mp3

I love Audacity to bits, but for this purpose I'd use MP3DirectCut.

Audacity will decompress the MP3 and then re-compress it again which results in a quality loss. MP3DirectCut will not do this.

One word of warning though. If these MP3s are mixtapes or similar, very few MP3 players support proper gapless playback, so expect momentary delays or glitches if you intend on playing them back to back.
