If you think the competition is misleading you could try reporting them to the IPM?

When anyone says the magic words "This call may be recorded for training and other purposes" I jump in and say "thank you for your permission - I have just started recording on my answer machine". I then say the date and time and ask them to give their full name and company etc.

PS. I can't actually record the call.

As soon as they say that I've entered the comp I immediately shout ''OOOOOH HAVE I WON?'' They usually apologise & say no, & I can safely put the phone down knowing that I've lost nothing. A few people have put the phone down on me too

We just this minute had a call from Scotish Power saying i had won but needed to speak to my mum about the bills. For half an hour she was telling them she wasn't interested, the lady wasn't rude but she basically said her job depended on us signing up and she wanted my mum to speak to her manager, mum said she again wasn't interested and that i only entered this for the competition. Mum was then told that i would only win IF she signed up. Not very happy that i can't enter competitions without being harassed, will be avoiding SP comp's from now on.

I also got this today. I said I only entered for the competition and then when he pushed it, I hung up.
