Awful experience with Scottish power competition

  • My husband got a phone call from them saying he had entered a competition to win a ps3 (he doesn't enter the comps I enter them for him !!) so he didn't know wether it was genuine, he put the phone down when the advisor started the hard sell and then let it slip that he hadn't actually won the ps3 they would only enter him into it if he took up the offer they gave him ! We don't answer any phone calls from them or do any comps with a connection to them, shame though we thought it was a company we could trust :(
Blimey that is awful, I thought this was a dodgy marketing ploy, and the posts on this thread seem to support this view. how unprofessional. It assumes that customers are greedy and thick, all we want is honesty, fair prices and good service. Imagine of they called a vulnerable person in this way. Not impressed.

I had a missed call from a number awhile ago, googled it and lots of people complaining about Scottish Power competiton spam calls. I don't think I've ever even entered a comp with them, I must have missed a third party checkbox somewhere!

I save the number as one to ignore, they called back on several occasions but I never picked up. Think they've given up at last now!
  • just speak over the top of them and ask outright if you've won. If not then just say not interested in what they are selling and hang up.

If they are rude I just introduce them to my friend 'mr click click drr' (hangup)
Not really comping any more as too ill - but hoping to win £1000+ in 2017 in cash prizes - watch this space!

For those of you who put in an incorrect telephone number, what if you were to be selected as a winner (if indeed there are any winners with these comps) you may lose out on the prize by not giving them the correct telephone number.

I must have entered a Scottish Power comp recently (don't normally enter these) as I got a sales call from them on 2nd Jan, however the guy was polite and shocked when I told him I didn't want to save any money

  • sales calls are part and parcel of comping sometimes.

  • My policeman fiance had one of these calls, right in the middle of talking to an oriental young man who was very upset due to harrassment, his ring tone is Gangnam Style

  • I had a very nice young man phone me the other day. I said I was already with SP (which I thought I was, still can't remember for sure). It is part and parcel of comping I think and the companies who run comps do so to drum up business and raise their profile. However, rude sales people isn't something you have to put up with!

    Good luck for 2013 everyone
