Awful experience with Scottish power competition

Hi all, just wanted to offload and warn you all about Scottish power, they are organising a comp at the mo where you win lots of fuel, I got called by them, and the sales girl was really bad. She cited the competition, to get my hopes up, talked over me, then asked really aggressively what I thought my average monthly bills were and who I was with. obviously, being a devoted money saver, she couldn't improve on my fixed rate with npower. She then told me this and just...hung up! No follow up, no polite conversation departure phrase, she just plain well cut the line. I know she has a job to do and people to sign up, but a comp should be a comp fair and square, and it seems to me that the utility company involved is using it really quite blatantly to drum up new customers. I wouldn't be surprised if the comp itself is all made up. I feel disillusioned about coming, so if any of you out there have won goodies with the utility companies, I would love to know. That sales girl definitely needs a crash course in customer relations, I have never felt so.....used! As my gran would say: 'What a cheeky madam!'

I don't enter these comps any more as they just end up with sales calls as you describe above. Possibly someone does win eventually, but it's not worth the hassle in my opinion0

I avoid them too. You should maybe just put it down to experience and not let it spoil your comping experience. Not all companies are like this. Good luck2013 wins:

I entered one of these comps with Scottish Power when I first started comping and had serious bother with them. When I complained they told me if I didn't want to be bothered that I shouldn't enter their comps. I don't enter them anymore and wouldn't advise anyone else to either.Mar Wins :- £2 GfK Media

My husband got a phone call from them saying he had entered a competition to win a ps3 (he doesn't enter the comps I enter them for him !!) so he didn't know wether it was genuine, he put the phone down when the advisor started the hard sell and then let it slip that he hadn't actually won the ps3 they would only enter him into it if he took up the offer they gave him ! We don't answer any phone calls from them or do any comps with a connection to them, shame though we thought it was a company we could trustBuena Suerte !!!!:beer:0

Really appreciate this, talk about a bad wake up call, I will take your advice on this. Hopefully Martin will say something about this because the utilities are not doing their images any favours. Is it confined to Scottish power? I was considering switching to them later this year, but have gone right off them now.
