That might be malware. One of the best free antivirus protections is avast so perhaps it might clean it off your machine then keep you safe :
Avast

I've used Avast and was not impressed with it. It can corrupt desktop/Vista gadgets if uninstalled & their technical support leaves a lot to be desired.
Microsoft Security Essentials is a better option and unlike Avast, you won't be pestered with adverts or annoying pop-ups to upgrade or renew the subscription.0 -

That's interesting. I note what you explain, thanks for posting it.
Avast has a better reputation in the industry than Microsoft products and most if not all other similar, according to various professionals who I associate with, here in London England.
But, sure, maybe they've arrived at that position for various reasons that may not actually be the case or necessarily apply in all situations.
I use the free version. I don't mind their occasional ads and pop ups, I'm glad that they keep me informed of new developments in case I might want to use them. The popups that they do are only occasional and waft off of their own accord after a few seconds. Or I can click them off if I want them out of the way now. Fine by me.
Perhaps the pay version that you used was more intrusive than the free one that I use.
Next time I speak to my bods I'll tell them what you said and ask their opinion about it. If there's anything more worth saying I'll pop back and post it here.0 -
I use free Avast, one can turn off the pop ups."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
