Is it the house with the upstairs window open and the "Tun Lane" sign above the front door? (That's where Google points to when I put in those co-ordinates.)
If so then you probably don't have much of a defence in law, as that is very close to the junction (Give Way line).0 -
That little triangle is technically 3 junctions. I doubt there's a place you can park that isn't within 15 feet of one of them.

Although annoying as it may seem I would cough up, chalk it down to experience and dont park there again.
Based on experience, I would second this.
I got an 0214 for parking on a grass verge in the lake district. Completely off the the tarmac part of the road and in the middle of nowhere. I later found out that several other tourists in the area had been 'done' for the same offence. I found out that, technically, the verge is part of the carriageway, so I just paid up.
A few years ago, when I shared a house with some mates, we had a problem with a neighbour complaining about us parking our cars where she wanted to park hers. It got pretty heated on one occasion and I asked traffic policeman friend for advice. When he turned up he told us and the neighbour that, despite the fact the road was a close on a housing estate, he would have no problem booking us all for wilful obstruction.0 -
Oh my... I wouldnt want to buy a house in that area without off road parking.
Even off road parking might be an issue with people having to pull out or reverse out so close to a junction.
Silly layout, They could turn it onto one junction and have a small parking area outside yours. But for one person that maybe a no go.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Hi,
I have always understood (well, since I started driving in 1957) that parking on the highway is obstruction, even if nobody is obstructed. Luckily, common sense usually prevails.
I would guess that somebody has complained, or somebody else has plans that your parked car is interfering with. Or maybe the local police force are short of funds. Or maybe its just the local police chief making sure he is seen to be taking his job seriously.
Me? i would pay the £30, and carry on parking, hope it doesn't happen again.
You could also look into "Neighbour Parking Only" .... for which you pay, but if the council get an income, it might cloud their judgement about where it is safe to park. ;-) Personally, I regard Neighbour Parking Only as a form of theft. If we all had it, nobody would be able to park anywhere but outside our own houses. If I can't park, I wouldn't buy a house there.
Some councils regard on street parking as a safety device .... it slows down passing traffic. I'm not sure that I agree with them.
Er .... sometime in the 1950s, the law changed to allow cars to park without lamps, on the highway, provided not a bus route, and more than a certain distance from a junction. So, you can park without lamps. even though it is an offence to park. (I don't think Goods vehicles were/are allowed to park without lamps).
You could always complain about every other car "obstructing the highway", but I'm not suggesting that you should.

thanks every1 for the reply's we will probably pay the fine, but need to know legally where we can park. i have contacted our local mp and he is taking the case on, so i will wait and see what he says, next step local papers. i will keep you all informed of the outcome but im not getting my hopes up, although we do have someone in the village that works for the police and also lives right on a junction and guess where they park? yep literally 5 feet from it. anyway thanks again, also spoke to highways department they could'nt believe it, he said if they were to start issuing parking fines in villages like ours there would be an outcry, anyways cheers0
