  • I do get child tax credit and child benefit. I pay £117 for utilities, £25 for water, £12.12 TV licence, £36 for his son's i-phone, £100 for Council Tax arrears for him and his ex's last house, plus my credit card bills, milkman, very account and food and petrol. I am a wimp and know I'd be better off on my own but my nerves are so bad that I can't do anything till I feel stronger, these tablets make my head hurt so I will probably be changing again, unfortunately.

    Tesco Credit Card £250 £25 DD 0% for next 10 months.

    Barclaycard Initial £241.45 0% for next 7 mths.

  • I hate that I came off ESA and look like one less statistic but in actual fact I'm only working 8 hours a week. But signing off at-least means i don't get hassled from the stupid Work Program every week.

    If I was in your situation I'd be telling the other half to support me and the kids when the money runs out or I'd leave him. You can be expected to pay the bills and stuff solely from child benefit.

    I didn't mean to offend, I don't think everyone should stay on ESA without money. They offered me a few hours work while still on ESA but I'm not up to it. I just don't like the thought of the Government saying that I am not on benefits, or that I am in training, or working, when in reality, I am still ill and whether or not I receive money I would like my condition to be acknowledged by Government so that funding to help people like me will be available. I admire you for what you have done and understand what it like to be hassled by these people, who make you feel like a scrounger, when it is not your fault if you are not able to work.

    Why are you paying for his son's iphone and his CT etc? He's earning, shouldn't he be paying this?

    You may be entitled to working tax credits as a family, its worth checking it out even though they are your children you all live together in the same household.
    I can see him no reason why he should object to you making a claim, as any money you may be awarded and
    receive will not come out of his wallet.

    If it's the partner who's working then he has to make the claim for working tax credit.

  • i too live with a partner, and cant get means tested benefit as my partner works!!

    i was placed into support group esa just recently; i was also awarded contributions based esa.

    i know how frustrated you must feel, my partner and i cant get tax credits cause of his earnings which after deductions i think is around £24k.

    i think your partner is a bit mean if he wont support; i thought that was what relationships was all about having a supportive partner?

    maybe you need to go into the citizens advice bureau and ask for advice.

    good luck ::++)) xxx

    Poor you Spellkaster ! So you have a partner earning £32000 a year before tax, get £11000 a year benefits no rent no mortgage to pay but no when your washing machine breaks down you asks THE SOCIAL FUND to pay !! How dreadful that you have to ask your partner to dip in their pocket -and i know you post about how your partner doesnt want to pay to support you ....cause mean old benefits department and those mean old tax payers wont shell out for a new washing machine for you !!!!

    Disgusting that you dont get working tax credits or income based disability premiums as you have been previously moaning about not being eligible for .... you "only" pocket 35 grand a year ish AFTER deductions !!! Get real thats an income I and many others who work and are ill can only dream of !
