Grants for new boiler?

Hi, I'm in receipt of high rate mobility, mid rate care and incapacity benefit ( although I have the form to fill in for ESA).

We desperately need a new boiler, and an improved heating system, and I'm looking for any grants that might help?

I am NOT currently on any income related benefits, and most places I've looked are asking for this as a requirement.

Does anyone know anywhere I could try?
Warm front need me to be on ESA, which I'm hoping I will be, but currently am on INCAPACITY benefit.

Thanks all

Do you own your own property or rent?

All iB claimants will be transferred to ESA, you can call them and ask to be transferred.

Do you have any savings etc?
  • Hi we own,and have no savings. Hubby earns a good wage that's why I won't qualify for means tested grants.

    theres the answer....use hubbys wage
have you had the boiler checked to see if it can be repaired?
  • Why can't you pay for one yourself?

Because, although he earns a good wage,I don't earn anything, I am considered vulnerable, I get cold very easily and any spare money we have goes on bloody heating bills!!!
I have a daughter with a chronic illness that means she also needs to keep warm, and the boiler is almost kaput.
I'm not asking for money to pay for the full thing, perhaps just some help due to my circumstances.

The irony is, if I were on ESA or job seekers then we would be eligible, but I'm still on incapacity benefit,...not yet been transferred.

This is something that most people budget and save for over time.

The Warm Front scheme would not help you even if you were on ESA, as it is only for those on means tested benefits.

Plenty of people earn a wage and manage to pay for new boilers themselves. I think you got a bit of a cheek expecting more free money when you already receive a substantial from the tax payer.

  • :T yeyy the benefits bashers are out in force.

    Forget it.
Ill find another way of "scamming" the tax payer !!!!!!.

Only asked if there's any help due to disability.

you may not earn anything, but as a couple, he is expected to support you.
as well as his wage, you are also receiving over £200 a week in disability/incapacity benefits.

it would take about 10 weeks to save this money to replace your boiler.

have you thought ahead to what might happen in a years time if you dont get put in the ESA support group?

But your husband isn't disabled is he? He is expected to support you and the household.

Personally, I don't have a problem with anyone claiming benefits as long as its needed by them.

I'd rather see the money go to people who do need financial support due to not even having a wage coming in.
