Tax return

Options
Hi All and happy new year,

This year, my wife and I, in addition to our main jobs have been asked to do some free lance work. Mainly access consultancy for gym chains. We have registered as self employed and obviously now need to think about tax returns etc. I have a quick and hopefully simple question.

Is the tax return due on the 31.1 for the 11/12 financial year or the 12/13? Also do tax returns need to be done annually. Sorry for what I suspect are obvious questions, but sometimes information is swifter to come by here!

Chris

The tax return that you need to do before 31/1/13 is for the tax year 5th April 2011-5th April 2012. The tax office are always a year in arrears.

That is what I assumed as otherwise you would have to guess income for the remainder of the year. Thanks, thought it was worth checking.
