Sorry to hear about your son's problem.
Did the van have a warranty with it?Did your son do something to cause or aggravate the breakdown?Was the van nearing the end of its life anyway?And if so,was trhat
reflected in the price?
Suggest you talk to the Garage,calmly,point out the facts and ask for his comments.
Any product put up for sale should be of "merchantable quality" in other words,it should do the job it was meant to do and should not break down within a couple of days.
It tends to boil down to the garage.If they gave a warranty or not,an ethical company would try to make amends or reparations.A warranty will give you greater leverage,but if the repairs come to too much,they might close their business and reopen as a different company.0 -
It will also depend on why the engine broke. What happened to it? Was the oil and coolant levels correct? Had it been recently serviced etc0
