I am looking for a free virus free video converter that can do mp4 to avi for my dad. His TV can't play mp4 files, but can play avi files, so he wants to convert a few videos to play on his TV.
Any suggestions? I've looked but I don't trust half the sites and I've downloaded a few with viruses.

In general, whenever you have downloaded a file, right click it, then click to scan with your anti virus programme.0 -
Hi!
I would also recommend Handbrake, it's a free video converter (which also lets you set up a queue of video's to do overnight, and will shut down your pc once completed for you too)
It's pretty easy to use, just tell it the source file, where you want to save the converted file and click 'go'0 -
Thanks, I'll try them out and then recommend the best one to my dad. His computer is very old, so needs a converter that doesn't take up too much RAM and his computer is on XP!0

well handbrake isn't the quickest, I tend to batch things together and let it chug away overnight, but it does a good enough job for me!0
