I recently purchased a laptop and had troubles setting up the internet (which STILL hasn't been resolved) and after approximately 35 minutes on the phone, I started to wonder how much this might be costing me (I did scan the page of the book that I got the number out of before I phoned, but couldn't find it) however I scanned the booklet again, out of desperation to get the internet up and working, and noticed at the bottom of a page "7/51£ per minute"
Yes, 7/51£, is that £7.51 a minute? or a mistake? if so thats what? £262?! That surely can't be right, if so, is there a way I could claim the money back seen as I havn't recieved the assisstance I need?
Fingers crossed for the phone bill I guess in the mean time.

If it was an 0870 number, they probably mean to say it costs 7.51p/minute.
However, that's the pre-1/10/06 BT* price - it now costs 7p/minute peak, 3.5p/minute off peak and 1.5p/minute weekends.
* http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=2592630&postcount=9Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
When I have to ring them (which I hate as you are put thru to a call centre) its normally a 0870 number which i charges me 10p a min0

Yes, it was a 0870 number, so do you think it will be under 10p a minute?
And thanks for your repliesStudent.

If it's any help if you dial 01179191100. This still puts you in the "press 1 so so and so" but at least you are no paying 10P per minute.
I used it all the time when I had the misfortune to be an AOHell customer.0 -
Hi Marricked,
Here are 2 freephone numbers i found
AOL Broadband 0870 3202020 = freephone 0800 2796771
AOL Talk Members services = 0800 2006200
I cant ring it to check them as i only have a mobile so will still be charged, but they should work fine
and hopefully can get it sorted!
