Any thoughts on Cat Insurance please?

Hi,
I am currently doing a few quotes and reading the policy documents for pet insurance for my two cats.
I know that I want the 'lifetime' policy and am not necessarily looking for the cheapest policy, but I do want someone reliable.
Does anyone have any recommendations/tips to avoid before I bite the bullet and pick one? Particularly good payers.
(Although I said not nec. the cheapest policy - I've looked at PetPlan and it's just out of my price range - so kind of looking at the next layer down!)
Current shortlist is AXA, John Lewis looking at possibly Virgin.
Thanks in advance

We've been with DirectLine for 15 years or so - got all 9 cats with them at the moment (£131/month but half of our cats are now 9 or older). They've been excellent throughout - no problems whatsoever, and our vet deals directly with them if the estimated treatment is over £300. On occasions where we've had to stump up and reclaim, they've paid out within 2-3 weeks. Our excess is £70."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

Have a look at Argos Platinum - paid without problem for my cat's operations (over 5k) and for my dog's operations (over 14k).
Got 1 cat and one dog with Argos Platinum and 3 other cats with PetPlan.0 -
I'd check whether the insurance covers you for dental work. Some cats get lesions on their teeth which then need to be removed. Once they have had one they are likely to get more. Costs are around £150 - £360 depending on the complexityofthe operation. I have two cats that need extractions and have discovered my insurance doesn't cover this condition.0

I've insured out cats with Argos Platinum too. Last year Salem ate lilies (at the time I didn't know they were highly poisionous otherwise they would never have been in the house) as soon as he started vomiting we took him to an emergency vets, we paid a £300 deposit and put in a claim form with Argos and they paid the £800+ bill within 3 weeks. They also paid our regular vets direct for the remainder of his treatment (blood tests), I'm not sure how much that was though.0

after months of trying to work out what to do I opted for petplan. £25.89 for two cats aged 8.0

I have my cats with Marks and Spencers. Claimed twice with no problems. The staff were friendly and helpful on the phone. Hope that helps.0
