I just moved into a flat, it does not have Gas but my Electric bills will be effectively double so can I get a dual fuel discount?

I have had a 2 month estimate so how can I get an idea of usage?
Thanks, don't you just hate people with sigs !

Dual fuel discounts are for dual fuel contracts surely?
Yours is mono fuel, i.e. electric only, whatever the usage may or may not be?

Usage can be calculated pretty simply by reading the meter at the start of a time period (i.e. a week) and again at the end and multiplying.
Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.

  • Hi,

take a meter reading now and check against the estimate, if a big difference either way contact supplier and provide readings.

It would help if you said how the property is heated and hot-watered. Crucially, do you have E7 and storage heaters?

You aren't entitled to a duel fuel discount on the basis that you have a high electric bill, I'm afraid. Duel fuel discounts are for duel fuel customers only. You may be entitled to other discounts/cash back schemes with other companies though so check those deals out.

timbo58 idea of recording usage in a week and multiplying it is a fine start for an estimate, but remember your usage will probably vary in summer/winter so bare that in mind. You could also use an estimate on a price comparison website based on the size of your property to give you an idea of expenditure.

    Follow this advice :)

By using a comparison site, it will usually include all the applicable discounts you are entitled to.
Surely getting the lowest price is what counts, not getting a deal with a certain discount.
(Some suppliers may offer you a discount for not having a gas supply to the property)
