We got married here with about 50 guests, but they can do you smaller than that. It would be a humanist wedding and the lady we used was excellent and made our wedding very special. It was a sunny day and the kids just ran about out (very safe apart from jaggy nettles and sheep) all day.
A friend got married there a couple of years ago. It was just the two of them and the venue supplied witnessed - and a very nice meal in the cottage they stayed in that evening0 -

If you want a religious ceremony, but have perhaps been put off thinking that they are all the same and prescriptive, then why not look at a non-conformist church like Methodist, baptist or salvation army etc. their services will be personalised, with the only set bits being the legal wording.0

located in a stunning bit of the country and the happy couple couple honeymoon with a wee tour of the highlands. sounds mental but going away for the weekend with friends and getting married in the middle of it was perfect.
During our ceremony, which was outside, our humanist set it up so we faced family and friends (instead of god in a church) and it really hit home to me that it "takes a village" to make a happy marriage. The people there were the people we will moan to, celebrate with, the people who will keep us sane. the whole experience changed my mind to the importance of being married and family and friends being there when you do.0
