Question for Humax experts....

Options
We have a Humax PVR - 9200T and sometimes it fails to record programmes that we have on timed recording although it is flagged up.

It usually happen to the programmes that we really like such as 'Deal or No Deal' and 'Master Chief' - Maybe the fault lies outside of our control.

So we would appretiate your comments please.

First thing to try is a factory reset of the device and do a manual retune

Enter your postcode in this site to find your strongest transmitter in your area.
    http://www.wolfbane.com/cgi-bin/tvd.exe?DX

People have been reporting issues with this PVR of having channels in the 800 range, In the past that's usually due to the device grabbing information from more than 1 transmitter during the auto-tune, this seems to throw the device for a loop with recording times! (though the last update should have fixed this problem)

Also check to see what version of software running on the PVR
    here's the latest firmware version:

As above, start by updating the firmware if you re not running the latest version.

Many thanks for the above, valued information. We will start by updating the firmware as suggested.

The strongest transmitter in our Post Code area is the one that we are tuned to with the antenna, namely Rowbridge VP, on the Isle of Wight, which as the crow flies is not very far away.

Being pensioners we will go through the motions and follow the Instruction Guide. Thanks again.

Don't bother with the firmware upgrade! You won't get anything currently (that's why I didn't suggest it)

The firmware update is only broadcast a very few times a year and it's not currently being broadcast.

Keep an eye on this page every few weeks to see what updates are being transmitted

also subscribe to the Humax newsletter you'll get an email once a month letting you know if their are any updates being broadcast as well.

Your Humax should already be running the latest firmware, unless you are in the habit of disconnecting it from the mains rather than putting into standby. It should be set to Regular Auto Update and you can easily check what version firmware you are running - Menu, System, Status.

Sometimes Humax units appear to have a mind of their own. I have a pvr 9150T and I noticed that when I copy some programmes it always glitches and skips frames at the same certain points of the show. For example I always copy match of the day 2 and without fail it always skips frames when the league tables are shown at the end of the programme. In fact it happens exactly at the point where the host mentions the top two teams and begins his way down the table. The glitch means you don't see anything about the other teams until you get to the bottom half of the table where it jumps to. Chronologically it does not happen at the same time in each programme but only when the top half of the table is initially shown which does not always come up at the same exact same time every week. I really find this phenomena very weird and the behavior of your recorder seems to suggest it does it's own thing too:(
