I have just booked and paid for the holiday of a life time, costing many thousands of pounds. Thought I had better check my existing annual insurance policy. It is a good job I did. If I had cause to cancel the holiday, the maxium cancellation fee they would pay is £5000! A long, long way short of what I have paid out already. I contacted my insurance company to increase the premium but was told £5000 was the maxium on any of their policies.
I have now gone to to the company that sold me the holiday, to buy insurance from them, but their maxium payout is still only £7,500. They know how much I have paid and this does not cover it.
Anyone else come across this problem or can recommend a suitable insurance company that will cover expensive holidays?

The limits are per person so how much is the holiday and how many people are going?
There are many insurers that do cover for more than £7.5k per person, see https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4369321 for some examples0 -
Re; my expensive holiday and inadequate cancellation cover. I am travelling alone. I have no reason to suspect I will need cancellation cover but you never know.0

It is always sensible to have it as you never know what can happen but without knowing how much the holiday is then its hard to recommend. Amex Prestige is up to £12.5k cover, is this enough?0

There's another thread on insurance for an expensive holiday at the moment. You two should compare notes.
Is any of your trip refundable? The reason I ask is that insurance will pay up to the sum insured for costs which are not recoverable. Do you actually need the full cost covered.0
