Hi guys

My dh and I are having a disagreement, it's not actually happened thank god but.....

If I drove my car through floods and it was damanged, would the insurance pay to get it fixed and...

If I drove my car though floods and it was written off would ins pay.

I say they would and dh says no. But what happens if you parked your car and came back to find it submerged in flood water.

Thanks xxx

Providing there was no evidence you did it deliberately, then yes they would pay out.

I worked with someone who tried to claim for a new engine after driving through a flood, it was turned down and he did try and fight it but not sure what the outcome was.
This was back in 2000/2001 and was entirely the drivers fault, you could see it was to deep to drive through.

Assuming you have comprehensive cover you would be able to make a successful claim.

An insurance company I worked for would examine these claims carefully.

If you were one of these poor souls living in an area which has been flooded by severe weather, then yes they would pay out.

If you were driving along, could see a river had burst its banks and flooded a road and attempted to drive through it, it is very unlikely the insurance co. would see this as accidental damage and most likely turn down your claim.
