British Gas ignore price comparison
Has anyone else had the problem of using price comparison sites, and the tarrif not being added?
I discovered that after thinking id been on a web tarrif through moneysupermarket.com it had never been set by British Gas.
Only now when they are obliged to mail with your bill have i found out.
Ive been on standard tarrif for 3 years when i should have been on their web tarrif. They have told me it has cost me about 6% a year. They have offered me £75 when it is actually around £200 they have overcharged me.
I know it originally went through as i received the £30 fee from moneysaving expert.
It's starnge, because i must remember when i owe them money that i can just offer to give them 30% of it and that will be fine?

You should receive confirmation from the supplier regarding any change request.
At least you should keep an eye on the bills they regularly send you.
You say this all happened, or rather didn't happen, 3 years ago? No I don't think many MSE'ers would have allowed things to drag on that long

It's not unsual for Switches made through a cash-back 3rd party to go awry, but as BG are offering a £75 settlement it's reasonable to assume that their hands are not entirely clean on the c*ck-up
Reject their offer in WRITING heading the letter Complaint, advising them that you expect to be recompensed for every extra penny you have paid on the incorrect tariff billing0 -
To give us a bit more to work on...
What web tariff did you sign up to?
Has that tariff now finished? If so when?
How did you caluclate the £200?
How did they calculate the £75?
What did it say on previous bills? (Paper/email/web)?0
