The new build property is in the TW19 post code area.

I'm tempted by Martin's recommended Primus deal.

I'm with Virgin at present & don't really want to be tied to them

again.

My question is, what would the pros/cons be ?

Would I be better with BT in the long term ? or any other

suggestions welcome.

Heinz had a very useful post on the subject but I can't find it.

Happy New Year to all posters.
Be good to the young on their way up you might need them on your way down.

I've just moved into a new build and went with Primus Saver. They connected me today! I paid £111 in advance for line rental and will pay 99p a month for broadband (20gb allowance). Free connection. No included calls but I'm going to use an override provider as I could count on one hand how many calls I'm likely to make (I use my mobile). There is currently a 6 week wait for connection as I had provisionally been given a date at the end of Jan by BT until I cancelled with them. I can't believe how quick New Call Telecom arranged connection, BT openreach did the work!

Only downside is I have lost my existing number as they don't transfer when doing a new line.
  • Hi glenderg. I have been with Virgin for last 2 years paying £22.50 per month for 10Mb fast, unlimited fibre optic broadband. Also, I had received a letter from Virgin stating they will increase this price up to £24 per month.

I called Virgin today and clearly stated "I want to leave Virgin because it is too expensive compared to others". And the guy said he can make a £5 discount, straight away. First win in pocket :) And I continued to discuss further for adding a line rental, details of which I will give at the very end of this post.

Then, I just made a comparison and for unlimited broadband + limited use line rental and EE came up as the most convenient. And I called them to check the small prints terms and hidden facts and figured out the internet is not fibre optic and speed is just 8Mb and is NOT unlimited. They charge a delivery fee of £6 etc...

I called Virgin again to confirm paying a effective figure of £22.10 per month (£120 upfront and £12.10 pm for a year) the new terms for 12 months which is as follows:
Unlimited Fibre Optic Broadband (30Mb speed)
Unlimited evening, weekend calls + unlimited calls to all 08 numbers
No price hike for 1 year
No installation fee, No charge for new router
No hassle/charge for cancelling Virgin, returning the modem etc.

That is quite a change for 3 calls I made...
