New home, New Debts, New Diary/Budget (2)

Ok So I have moved again, back in May.
I would say on the whole I am now settled into my new home. Now this time round I am actually renovating house even though rented from kids dad and kids inheritience is tied up in it, so I'm improving it, plus other personal reasons to myself.

Anyhow, 5 years on from my last move here is my present situation
£1500 Daughters Bedroom
£1500 Kitchen
£1600 Student Overdraft
£750. Very
£600 Graduate Overdraft
£450 Capital One

£6400 Total, I have rounded up to make it easier to calculate.

Now in the past I had my inheritance that first paid off my debts, then student loan to keep balancing the books. Now I actually have to work to clear it off myself.

For the past six months I have been paying for renovational work to be done, whilst on two Zero hour jobs. Which is why I never bothered with a diary at first as never knew what was coming in.

I now have a 30hr contract, so can work out a basic monthly income. My other zero hour job I will be using for the rest of the renovational work which I require. So not putting the amounts down on here.

£864 wage
£1016 Tax Credit
£188 CBH
£2068 Total Income

Gas ? I have just had normal meters put in for these so no idea yet
Electric ?
Water
£26 Sky Had the TV package removed yesterday so phone/BB only
£75 Council Tax
£250 Rent
£6 Netflix
£19.13 Insurance
£12.12 TV Licence
£12.00 Vodafone (recently got it reduced from £20)
£100 estimate for Gas and electric for now.

£500.25 Total

I have 1 dog 3 cats and 3 teenagers, so
£300 Shopping
£68 busfare (work)Maximum
£30 month lunch/tea depending on shift £1.50 a day
£20 month Drama Youngest child

£418 Total

minimum Debt payments
£60.65 Very
£15.67 Capital One
£26.85 Daughter's Room
£41.60 Kitchen

£146.77 Total

£1065.02 Grand Total of Monthly expenses.

This leaves me with £1002.98 to use on my debts each month extra. Not counting any costs school/college will throw our way. I am going away this weekend so expect to use £100, especially if I have to make different travel arrangements.

Since I don't get paid wages til 25th, my extra payments on debts wont really be made until then.

With my last wages I bought £250 worth of cleaning products, toiletries, cat little and animal food so that is all sorted for a few months.

Well I have just come back from my few days away of self reflection and feel more organised in my head. Now I just need to get organised in my surroundings.

  • Decided to unoffically do the 100 days without takeouts, really fancied one today so the money I would have used to get family pizza I put into my isa account instead. £20 saved so far.

Ok, finally had a day off, Paid £100 extra on CC last month. Today I have just paid £600 off the Catalogue with CC, then paid £300 off CC, intend applying for a lower rate CC at weekend. Even if I don't get it, I atleast have just cut about 6%apr off original Catalogue debt.

Also, the winds have split and blown half my tree over garden wall, leaving other half pretty unbalanced and looking like it wants to join me in bed, so I now have the unexpected expense of having to have tree cut down, £100 been cheapest quote. This is on top of the £114 I had to pay out 3 weeks ago to have one of my cat's cremated. On top of that dog has run away, but wasn't at local pound. So now have lots of dog food and no dog, and the litter and cat food i bought in bulk will last that little bit longer now.

  • Well today I have cleared my catalogue balance (APR 39.7%) onto my Credit card (APR 30.340%) so Credit card balance is now £1011.81. I now plan to try and get a credit card with my bank at a lower APR and transfer my balance from Capital One credit card. Atleast overall I am now going to be paying 9.36% less on my APR.

  • Got turned down on the lower APR CC, never mind. Atleast I still have less to pay over all each month now that I have used my CC to pay off the catalogue.

  • Will have to do my calculations soon, going to do them on new years eve, dreading it but I know it did include a trip to Canada for myself and three teens to celebrate my 40th.

I must confess I keep wanting to spend at the moment. Yesterday I spent £155 on DVD box sets, two for next Christmas and the rest to watch at home, as I now only have netflix on my TV. I just need to stop watching the news on PC and I can get rid of my TV license.

My income is about to change as youngest has moved to my mum's and my daughter is now at Uni so already taken a cut in income a couple of months back. Also I now have a set pattern to my overtime each month, so wages will start to stablize and I now only do one instead of two jobs so no longer paying 20% tax on second job.

  • Went to Tesco today and I had only forgotten to take my bank card with me, luckily I had my daughter's train ticket money (since we used my card to order this morning) on me so only had to put two items back whilst at check out. I swear it is the worse feeling ever, then the panic over, where have I lost my card...

Anyhow just means back to the shop tomorrow to get dog food and cat litter.

Shopping this week would have come to just short of £40, hoping to get it lower next week, I want to average around £30 a week.

  • Since it was a lower interest rate on my CC than on my Studio 24 account, I cleared the Studio account last week with CC, and have just called and closed down my Studio 24 account. Capital One is my next main debt to clear and close account.
