Mexico All-Inclusive?????

We are planning a holiday to Mexico in May.

Not fussy about the resort but want 4/5* quality resort with All-Inclusive package and flights/transfers. The hotel needs to be on the beach, good food, nice pool(s) and some good entertainment. AI must include A La Carte restaurants and no hidden charges.

Can people recommend a good place to go, what room type to go for, who to fly with etc and who to book online with for the best deal? We are also Quidco members so could get cashback.

Personal experience in these situations counts for a lot I think.

Our budget? - £2,000-2,500 for the whole thing!!!!!

The majority of 4/5* hotels in Mexican beach resorts will cater for your demands.

I'd suggest you look at the individual resorts first and decide which one suits you best, then start thinking about which hotel you want to stay at within that resort. Tripadvisor would be a good starting point.
  • We went to Occidental Grand Xcaret with 'The Holiday Place' company in Nov 2011. We really enjoyed it. I wouldn't say it was 5* (although that was the official rating) but it was a very good 4*

It cost us about £2500, not sure what the price was in May. It was abpprox £150-200 pp cheaper than going through Thomson etc.

What also made it better was that if you were with Thomson, their customers were restricted to the number of nights you could book into the ala carte places, however with our company we weren't restricted. So that may be something to check when you are booking, as I think that the average is 3 per week.

With regards to entertainment, it was pretty naff - more aimed at Children and familes and I think that is pretty standard for most AI place, but we made our own entertainment by people watching :)

Have a great time, wherever you end up!

I'd second using The Holiday Place. James who we dealt with was fab.

We stayed at 2 Palace resorts - Beach Palace on Cancun beach for 1 week and Aventura Palace (now part of the Hard Rock chain) for the second week through The Holiday Place.
Aventura was lovely because of the excellent spa facilities, but nothing much round it, so you're stuck in the resort really.
Cancun was good because you could go out for a walk and its actually on the beach (aventura has no actual beach).

I would recommend them to anyone, a variety of a la carte restaurants as well as the usual buffet breakfast/lunch.

The biggest bonus though is that you get resort credit to spend. We had $1500 per week, which we spent in the resort on spa treatments, champagne/wine upgrades in the restaurants and also on trips. Really made it an all inclusive holiday, the only extras we spent were on souvenirs and a little shopping.

Not sure how, the prices are in May, we went in December and spend over your budget for 2 weeks, but you don't mention whether you want 1 or 2 weeks.

Worth a look on the website as they often have good deals to these hotels.

We are thinking of going again later this year, to Moon Palace (golf course for OH to spend his credit on!) and Beach Palace.

You don't say in your post how many people are going or for how long you want to go?
