There is probably some truth in that but some people are just good.0 -
I'm going to break my rule for a moment here.

Clearly you do or you would stop reading and commenting
I gave you some things to think about regarding buying your mother's council house, none of it judgemental just some potential pitfalls.0 -
Pixie- agreed, and thanks for spending time replying.
And as I said I seek help from my solicitor.
People here are judging people before they know the full facts- judgemental people giving opinions is not what is asked!!
"Everybody is trying to rip off the government and tax payer fnar fnar!"
Some iof the responses amount to bullying, and last time I checked- this wasn't Facebook!
Stick to the facts and make this a forum people leave with the answers they seek!0 -
Well, that's the thing, it's not a paid for service here, it's people attempting to help others, using their own time.
They have no obligation to agree with you when they give you an answer. I'd say there's a great many useful answers in this thread. Many of them disagree with you, but that doesn't mean they should be discounted or written off as insults.
No need for hostilities*Assuming you're in England or Wales.0 -
In 1989 I met a lad who acted as guarantor on his granddad's one bed bungalow, which allowed a 70 year old to take out a small mortgage.
He paid his Grandads mortgage for him, as his parents allowed him to live with them rent free. He also indicated that he was overpaying hard to pay the whole mortgage off as soon as possible for his grandad, so he'd stop worrying about it.
I often wonder if it all went to plan.0 -

You obviously do not understand what a forum is, you should look it up... "a medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged."
Like many new posters, when the "answers they seek" are not the answers they wanted to hear people get uppity and seek answers elsewhere, that does not make the original answers wrong.
And again, like so many other threads on this subject, you are concocting a story about doing what's best for your mum when in fact you only really care about what is best for you. Of course as soon as regular posters here point out all the flaws and pitfalls of your personal get-rich scheme you stick your fingers in your ears and sing "tra la la". At least the OP on this thread was honest about his motives.Every generation blames the one before...

Actually, all decisions should consider moral/ethical points too. The reason we are in this mess is because people made (and are still making) decisions based solely on what is good for them and what makes the most profit. In fairness, the OP was honest and did say that they were doing it to benefit themselves (get a first step on the ladder), and given the huge difficulties young people face, I have some sympathy with that, however, it doesn't make it right or make it any less appropriate to consider ethical issues when making decisions.0
